Things that people might miss seeing while being in jail?

I am doing a sensual essay after visiting a jail with my english cl and i need to know some things that the inmates might missing seeing while they are serving their time in jail. I already have seeing their loved ones so if you could please leave that out it will be a major help. Thanks!
