Mortgage protection for unemployment?

My wife and I both work in fields that can easily be swayed by the changing economy. (Construction and Insurance). We're just trying to stay ahead of the game and were considering taking out mortgage protection in case of job loss. I googled the topic and came up with a few sites that didn't look "reliable" to me. I was just curious if anyone had more experience in the area and what suggestions they might have. Thank you! Devin
